Teen Games That Border on the Grotesque!

November 30, 2009

Teen games are the perfect compliment to a party, get together, or church youth group. Teens love to compete and if the activity has a hint of gross and disgusting, all the better and all the more interest! Here’s a few teen games. Try them if you dare, but be sure to have buckets or garbage cans on hand, along with parental permission. They’re not for the faint at heart!

To get the disgusting game ball rolling, start with some “easy” teen games that don’t rate 10 on the barf-o-meter.

KISS THE FISH

Have everyone sit in a circle and play some lively music, while passing around the circle a dead fish with the head still attached. when the music stops, whoever is left holding the fish must kiss it on the lips!

SLIMY TWISTER

Have enough twister mats so all of your teens may play simultaneously or make your own using pieces of heavy plastic. Place a paper plate on each circle and fill it with a food representative of that color. For example, ketchup for red, raw egg yokes for yellow, split pea soup for green, applesauce with blue food coloring for blue. Proceed to play the game as normal. To make things a little more disgusting, add fish oil or fish bait to all of your substances. This way, when people are bent over the plates the aroma will be disgusting, not to mention the “lovely” smell they will all have on their hands and clothes. Make sure everyone knows ahead of time to wear old clothes, as they will get stained.

Now that you’ve got your teens warmed up, its time to play some seriously disgusting teen games guaranteed to make someone hurl!

JUST EAT IT!

Split your teens into teams and line them up. Give each team a blindfold and a grocery bag filled with various food and drink. All the bag contents and blindfolds should be identical. The first person of each team puts on the blindfold, reaches into the bag, pulls something out, and eats it. Once their food or drink is consumed, they are free to run to the finish line and back to their team. Once the next person in line is tagged, they proceed to repeat the process. Whichever team gets through all of their players first is the winner. Fill the bag with things that most teens wouldn’t want to eat. Examples: Sardines, raw onion, red peppers, liverwurst, cooked piece of liver, anchovies, cold creamed spinach, buttermilk, okra, mayonnaise, hot mustard, cold pea soup, limburger cheese, cold cooked brussel sprouts, lima beans, raw oysters, etc. Put foods into small snack-sized Zip-loc bags.

KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT

Line up your teens and give them each a giant super sour Pixy straw. On “Go,” everyone dumps the entire contents of the straw into their mouth, closes their mouth, and proceeds to try and be the last person to keep their mouth shut. The tongue and mouth begin to get acid burns, which eventually makes the weaker links spit it out.

PICKLES, ICE CREAM & HOT SAUCE–OH, MY!

The title says it all. Have everyone sit in a circle and eat a bowl of ice cream with chopped up garlic dill pickles mixed in, and hot sauce poured on top. Bon Appetit! Whoever finishes the ice cream first is the winner.

What is the Type of Home Brewing System For You?

November 30, 2009

Do you find it difficult to make a choice between the different types op home brewing systems? In this article we will look at the features you need to consider the make a good choice.

It seems like there are many home brewing system these days on the retail market, but when you take a closer look you will find that there are just a few of these systems that are real trust worthy. We take a closer look at the three top systems on the market: MrBeer, The BeerMachine and Coopers Microbrewery (All-in-one). Choosing a home brewing system that will answer all your demands is not that hard at all if you know what to look for. There are a few things that are worth focusing on when you are looking for a good system and keeping those in mind will make your decision much easier.

Amount of beer made in one batch

This is where the systems differ the most, the amount of beer you end up with. With the MrBeer home brewing system you end up with 2 gallons of beer. The Beermachine 2.6 gallons ( 10 liters/ 28 – 12 oz servings) and with the Coopers system you have the largest amount, 6 gallons in one batch.

MrBeer and The Beermachine are easy to compare, the amount, prices and even the way they look are similar. Coopers, however, is very different. Not in price but in the amount of beer you end up with and the wide variety of types of beer kits that can be bought as well, to make many types of beer.

The Best Price

When you think you will see a big price difference between MrBeer and the Coopers home brewing system your wrong, The BeerMachine is $114,95, the Brewmaster from MrBeer is $99,95 (the most expensive system from MrBeer) both with 2 gallon fermenter and the microbrewery from Coopers (6 gallon) is the same, also $99.99. So the price is the same but is the equipment of these home brewing systems also similar?

Both MrBeer and The Beermachine need minimal equipment they are made as a nice gift, look good and are very easy to use, but they are very limited in what you can do with them, there are also just a few different types of beer recipes available. The Cooper home brewing system is a completely different system. It is made for people who would like to start a new hobby and like to have more choice in recipes. Coopers sells many different flavors. This home brewing system is still easy to use but it looks more like a professional system and less like an exclusive gift.

Also Important Is The Ease Of Cleaning

The main concern of many good brewers will be the question if the equipment is easy to clean, because that is the major cause of failure. All of the above home brewing systems have different methods for cleaning and if you follow instructions all three are easy to clean.

Making the right decision

The decision depends on what you want in the end. If you are just looking for a nice gift for a person who sometimes likes to drink a beer I would advise you to buy a MrBeer or BeerMachine home brewing system. They look nice and is a nice present. However they offer very little for someone who really loves beer and would be interested doing some beer brewing for a hobby. If you are such a person or if you want to buy a home brewing system as a gift to a person like that then absolutely go for Coopers. They offer the best home brewing system for the best price.

What You Can Learn in Homebrew Shops

November 30, 2009

There are many homebrew shops around the country and if you have the chance to visit one we advise you to do so. When you don’t have the opportunity to visit one in real life you can also find them online. And these online homebrew shops are also a great source of knowledge. But what are the things you can learn at these shops?

You can find enthusiastic brewers at homebrew shops.

Most of the homebrew shops sell supplies and ingredients but they also offer a place to gain knowledge from other home brewers. Almost all shop owners brew themselves, have a homebrewery on the side and most know all the ins and outs of the home brewing process. They often have small production facilities and most like to show it to you and explain how they work. The online homebrew shops often have pictures and even video’s online to show you how they do it and sometimes they have have video’s of the whole brewing process.

Professionals on a small scale

Most owners of homebrew shops started just like you, they bought a home brewing kit or received one as a gift and just started doing it. They gained more experience and started with brewing special blends for friends and friends from friends and before they knew they had a licensed microbrewery and started their (online) homebrew shops. They will remember the time when they were just starting to brew and most of them are more than willing to help out and give advice.

Quality is in the numbers

You might think that the best ingredients can be bought at local homebrew shops but most of the time it is better to buy ingredients online. Local homebrew shops need to buy at a large scale and sometimes the ingredients don’t get sold quick enough and the ingredients are not as fresh as you would like. Most online homebrew shops don’t have stock they deliver direct from the producer this means you get super fresh ingredients and especially with hops that is very important.

Most home brewers will tell you that the taste is all in the hops, and they are pretty accurate with that assumption Because unprocessed hops dry fairly quickly and can turn the taste of the brew almost rancid, almost all local homebrew shops sell pellets or plugs, this will have a much longer shelf life. It is important that all your ingredients are as fresh as you can get.

History lessons at your homebrew shops

The process of homebrewing works has basically remained unchanged for hundreds of years. And may be the brewing equipment is more modern today the old brewing methods have remained the same. Most homebrew shops have a small section with some historical knowledge because of the Prohibition of Alcohol in the United States between 1920 and 1933. Home beer brewing was left out until a new law was passed in 1978. And even now you are only allowed to produce 100 gallons per year for every adult over 21 in the household, with a maximum of 200 gallons a year allowed by law. If you want to brew more you need a license and the owners of homebrew shops can tell you all about that because the need to have one themselves.

Cookbooks and fishing novels and magazines are favorite gifts for fishermen. These are available at local bookstores or via online specialty stores. Other forms of printed media suitable for gift giving include journals and other gifts.

Posters, prints and calendars are great gifts for anglers. Whether it’s meant to decorate a den, garage or fishing cabin, calendars, prints or fish identification posters will be appreciated and proudly displayed by fishing enthusiasts.

For anglers that enjoy artwork, fish rubbings, or Gyotaku are a potential gift idea. The Gyotaku technique relatively simple. Artists apply paint or ink to an actual fish, then lay paper or canvas on top of it. The paper or other media is rubbed over the fish and gently peeled off to expose the likeness.

Not to be overlooked are freshwater and saltwater fish ornaments. Artists and crafters offer a wide range of Christmas and holiday ornaments that feature photographs, paintings or logos of a favorite fish species. These make excellent gifts and ornaments of several species can be combined to create specialized collections.

When preparing for the Christmas season, shoppers may also want to check out fishing-related Christmas cards, postcards or note cards. Some cards will have fishing photos or prints, while others will display a particular species of fish. These cards make good choices when sending holiday greetings to fellow anglers and boaters.
