December 31, 2009

A convenient location and wonderful climate makes Florida the ideal destination for a family vacation. Whether it is Miami or another city, getting around the state is easy as rental cars are widely available and reasonably priced as well. Round up the family and hit the beach, take a swim with the dolphins, or get your adrenaline rush on the roller coasters. Whatever your pleasure, Florida can deliver an experience unlike you will find anywhere else.

Beach Scenery

Florida offers 1100 miles of gorgeous beaches, crystal clear waters, and delightful tropical breezes. In the Sunshine State, you can easily find heavily populated beaches with a party atmosphere, or quite beaches perfect for relaxing. Many vacationers are fond of Siesta Public Beach because it has a great environment for kids. Located in sunny Sarasota, this beach offers fine white sand, translucent shallow waters, calm waves, and a well equipped playground. Those who like to collect seashells will be pleased with the findings at Sanibel Island, which boasts well over 400 types of shells. Amelia Island is also a popular spot to visit, boasting 13 miles of island primed for activities such as sunbathing, horseback riding, kayaking, exciting shopping and fine dining. If your family has their heart set on Miami, rest easy because this vibrant city has several great beaches that offer a little something for everyone.

Tourists Attractions

Orlando, Florida is the perfect place for the vacationing family seeking action. Here you will find Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, and the impressive entertainment hub known as Universal Studios. The St. Petersburg and Clearwater areas have many exciting attractions the kids are sure to love while the tropical islands of the Florida Keys offer an array of wonderful opportunities for every member of the family. However, you don’t have to visit the Keys for island-style family fun. A comforting cottage on lovely Anna Maria Island would make a nice alternative, or the family can head north to visit the amazing Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola. This phenomenal facility offers a traditional park, museum and science park, each of which has several activities perfectly suited for all members of the family. From botanical gardens to amusement parks, Florida can provide everything for the family looking to have a blast on their vacation.

As you can see, Florida offers many desirable destinations and picking from the bunch can be difficult. After narrowing down your options for vacation spots, do some research to learn more about each destination so you know what the family is in for. You can do this by obtaining a travel guide or simply visiting the official website for that particular destination. Whatever you decide, we think both you and your family will consider your Florida vacation time well spent.

Cape San Blas Florida Vacations

December 31, 2009

There is a place of serenity and undisturbed peace that you may travel to, far from Miami and other major hubs of Florida. Cape San Blas is a destination that those looking for pure relaxation should head for.

Located on the horseshoe shaped spit of land in the Gulf of Mexico known as St. Joseph’s Bay, this is what is referred to as Florida’s Forgotten Coast. There are no high-rise buildings, no wall-to-wall people - nor buildings for that matter, no noise, and no pollution. Pristine is the working word for any day on Cape San Blas.

Historically the Cape was used by the Confederacy for salt harvesting from the seawater until 1862 when it was destroyed by the Union. The first lighthouse was built on the Cape in 1847 and was destroyed in August 1851 by gale force winds. There were a few new constructs in-between the original and the currently standing lighthouse. The current lighthouse draws in thousands of visitors a year. The ninety-six foot tall construction houses two keepers so that by use of walkie-talkies one keeper who mans the gift shop can speak to the other who eyes the tower and watches for storms. You have the opportunity to climb the tower, unless there is a lightning storm, where you can view from sea to shining sea… or at least the Cape area.

If climbing lighthouses for a great view isn’t your thing, then why not pop on over to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park? One of the highest rated beaches in the United States is within the park. While visiting you can also try your hand at kayaking, bird watching and dolphin watching. The Park is nestled on over 2500 acres right at the cape’s tip. Camping, hiking and diving are other activities that you may partake.

Most of the area around Cape San Blas is privately owned beach homes and undeveloped beaches and dunes. You have the unique opportunity to enjoy life both bay side and seaside while cruising through the stumphole, as the Floridians call it, which is the narrowest point at only a few hundred yards wide. Pets are welcomed on all beaches, so bring them along too!

Port Saint Joe is the local town on the Cape. It is very laid back, with a few stores here and there for your pleasure. For higher shopping needs, you can head thirty minutes out the Apalachicola. Mexico Beach has a few restaurants and shops to choose from as well. Port Saint Joe has an annual Youth Fishing Tournament in May.

What else to do while away from the hustle and the bustle? You can go crabbing and fishing for your own dinner or perhaps go swimming with your dog. Do you like horses? You can go horseback riding along the beach as well. Too exhausting you say? All right, maybe bonfires and an evening watching the stars glow is more your style.

If lackadaisical is your frame of mind for the vacation away from such ports as Miami, then Cape San Blas is the place to be. Some of the friendliest people you may want to meet live here and are ready to show you around. Sleep, daydream, and repeat.

Taking Your Vacation in Orlando Florida

December 31, 2009

There are many things to do in Florida, but if you have a family, some of the places like Miami may not be for you. While there are many different fine adult activities in this area, they are just that, adult activities. Many families find that the Orlando area offers many more activities, and there are many different theme parks and resorts in this area. You can choose from Sea World and Discovery Cove, which is home to some of the most exotic sea creatures that you may never see anywhere else. There is of course Universal studios, and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, which offers much more than the same theme park in California ever dreamed of, mostly because there is a lot more space here. Probably top on everyone’s list has got to be Disney World, and it too has much to see.

But this area has much more to offer as well. There are many quiet places, like an assortment of museums to entertain, malls for shopping, as well as many dining offerings. There are state parks to explore, as well as Kissimmee, and Lake Buena Vista. These are also great idea alternatives to the crowded theme parks in the area. There are some tips that you should know when you are planning to travel to Orlando Florida, or even Miami.

One of them is to plan ahead, and explore each of these areas with the power of the internet. There are many websites that offer virtual tours, giving you an idea of what each theme park has to offer without having to actually go there. This way, you and your family can decide what to do, and then plan accordingly. With the many resorts in the area that are really nice, you may also want to consider an all inclusive vacation package.

There are many advantages of an all inclusive stay. First of all one of the biggest problems with budgeting for vacations is trying to get in as many activities as you can, but you often have to deal with lodging, and food, which cuts down on your activity plans. This is different with an all inclusive resort. Almost everything is included in one package, and you don’t have to worry about practically anything. Your lodging, food, and entry into the park are all free. Food is offered buffet style for all meals and there is something for everyone’s tastes.

That doesn’t mean you won’t have to bring money with you, there are some things that won’t be covered in your package. If you want to buy any souvenirs, you will have to pay for them. For parents, if you want any extra food, or alcoholic beverages, you will have to pay for these as well. You may also find some activities, ones that are privately run, are going to cost you extra, but overall, it is much more affordable.

You really need to plan ahead, because if you are planning your vacation during the summer months, these resorts tend to fill quite fast. You should always make your reservations well ahead of your arrival date, in order to make sure that you get the kinds of things you want.

Bermuda Attractions for the Family

December 31, 2009

Holidays to Bermuda are something that should be experienced by the whole family and luckily the stunning islands of Bermuda have enough attractions to keep everyone entertained. From swimming with dolphins to exploring crystal strewn caves, these are the top three family attractions in Bermuda:

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo

The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo are all housed together in one large complex. However, the aquarium seems to take up the majority of the floor-space and it is easily agreed that this building is the highlight of the trio. Visitors should start their aquarium experience by collecting a soundstick at the entrance which provides visitors with commentaries of the underwater life as they come across it in the centre. Although the building houses hundreds of native fish, the native rock provides the focal point of the aquarium. This display houses one of the largest living pieces of coral in the world and children can stick their heads through a giant Perspex bubble in order to experience the sensation of diving in a cave.

The museum explores both the natural history of Bermuda, looking at the formation of the island and its first native visitors, and the native flora and fauna of the area. Visitors that want to experience firsthand the wildlife that has been introduced to the area should head across to the zoo. Although the zoo isn’t especially large it does have some interesting exhibits which are bound to enthral your children on their holidays to Bermuda. Most of the wildlife comes from either Australasia or Bermuda, and guests can expect to see giant fruit bats and rare blue iguanas.

Bell Diving

Even non-swimmers can experience bell-diving. So if you want to experience the underwater life of Bermuda, but don’t fancy leaving your children unattended then why not book a family bell-diving excursion on your holidays to Bermuda. Children from eight years old upwards will simply need an underwater helmet and a little handholding. After a brief lecture aboard the ship, the whole family can place on the bell-helmets and come face to face with the underwater life of Bermuda. Tour groups always link hands and walk together so there is no chance of your child wandering off and getting lost in the corals. The tour lasts around two hours and during this time children will have the rare opportunity to handfeed hogfish and angelfish.

Crystal Caves

The Crystal Caves are one of Bermuda’s most spectacular natural wonders and coupled with the nearby Fantasy Caves, they make a family day out. Crystal stalactites drip down from the ceiling, framing a clear blue lake that is believed to be over 55 feet deep. The Fantasy Caves opened in 2001 and have been illuminated to give visitors a wonderful, ethereal experience. One of the first people to experience the wonderment of the Crystal Caves was the American author, Mark Twain who described the stalactites as huge white soda straws and the place as simply mind-boggling. The caves are a must-visit and should definitely be experienced on your holidays to Bermuda.

John Dixon is Managing Director of Prestige Holidays and visits Bermuda at least twice a year. He has been providing luxury holidays to Bermuda and many other destinations for over 30 years.

African Wildlife Safari - 5 Great Reasons to Choose an African Safari Holiday

December 31, 2009

If you’re looking for a vacation that includes exotic locations, wondrous landscapes and a host of cultural and action activities, look no further than an African safari in Kenya. An African wildlife safari will satisfy all your dreams of romance and action and give you a host of other benefits besides.

Here are five great reasons to choose an African safari hotel now.

Firstly there’s the sheer romance of it. Few other vistas in the world can match a herd of wildebeest sweeping majestically across a vast plain, a group of stately elephants lumbering down to a watering hole, or a pack of gazelle in full flight. And the soft, warm African nights full of the brightest stars imaginable are the most romantic settings in the world.

There’s the feeling, too, that you’re traveling in the footsteps of a succession of intrepid souls who made it their life to get to know the Dark Continent. These include explorers such as Livingstone and writers including : Hemingway and Baroness Blixen.

The next great reason to choose an African safari is to experience the magic of nature. Africa offers some of the most stunning natural landscapes in the world. These include soaring mountains capped with snow, deep tranquil lakes, fertile savannahs, forests, and soft white coral beaches on the Indian Ocean.

Then there’s the main reason for most people to go on http://www.chelipeacock.com/ : African safaris - the animals. These comprise the world’s most diverse collection of herbivores, predators and birds. These include the “Big Five” animals of Africa - the lion, leopard, buffalo, rhinoceros and elephant.

On an African safari, you can get close up to elephants on open-vehicle game drives and watch the shy gamboling of giraffe, zebra and gazelle. If you’re lucky, you can catch a glimpse of such rare species as the Rosthschild’s Giraffe and the endangered black and white rhino.

If you’re a bird lover you’ll want to visit Kenya which is home to over 1000 species. Lake Nakuru is the domain of the flamingo. Up to a million of these elegant, pink birds can congregate there at one time to create a stunning spectacle.

If you time your visit right you can witness of the great wonders of the animal world - the Great Migration that takes place between June and September. On this occasion, millions of wildebeest, zebra and other grazing animals journey from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the http://goafrica.about.com/od/kenyatopattractions/a/masaimara.htm : Masai Mara in Kenya.

However romantic Africa may be and however stunning the flora and fauna, that’s not all an African safari holiday has to offer. Today’s safaris offer a wide range of activities.

These can be enjoyed both as part of the safari itself and as separate activities. An example of the former is photography. While in the past, people went on safari to hunt animals, today’s safari goers tend to focus on the shooting of film or digital images in their cameras. As you can imagine, an African safari offers unparalleled photographic opportunities.

One popular activity on safari is to view Africa from the lofty perch of a hot air balloon. This can give you a whole new perspective on the landscape and the habitats of the animals, not to mention amazing photography opportunities.

Thrill seekers are particularly well-served in Africa. They can enjoy a whole array of activities ranging from mountain climbing to mokoro (canoe), boating trips and scuba diving.

Culture buffs are well served too, with options available to visit local villages along with the sites of ancient civilizations.

The last great reason to go on an African safari is to support local communities through responsible tourism. To ensure this, you’ll need to choose a travel organizer committed to preserving local communities and the environment.

To get the absolute most out of your African safari, find a reputable company that can tailor make the event for you. In this way, you can be assured of the ultimate travel experience as well as improving the lives of local residents.

Fairy Lights – How to Create Dazzling Effects

December 31, 2009

Edward Johnson, one of Thomas Edison’s assistants, invented electric fairy lights in 1882, dressing a tree with 80 small bulbs. By 1902, his invention was being mass produced. While most western households have a special box in the loft marked ‘Christmas tree lights’ you might be surprised to find just how spectacularly diverse the range of fairly lights commercially available today actually is. If that loft box contains a tangled mass of ageing cable and burnt out bulbs, you’re missing out on a new generation of decorative lighting which can transform your home – not just at Christmas, but all the year round.

String lights remain a very popular variety of fairy light – but the kitsch designs, gaudy colours and temperamental bulbs of yesterday have given way to a superb new age of LEDs (light emitting diodes). Not only are these lights vastly more reliable, they last nearly twice as long as their filament predecessors, give a more brilliant glow and frequently come with multiple effects. You can alternate at will between a steady glow, flashing, flickering, waves, pulses, fading and blending or a mix of all them. And you have a far better range of colours to choose from than you did in the past, from brilliant white to ice blue, cranberry red to mistletoe berry white, to spangled, multi-coloured incandescence.

The Christmas tree is today only one of the items you might wish to decorate with lighting. Icicle or string lights can also be tastefully garlanded around the stair-rail and even stair spindles if you have them, or draped around the frames of wall-pictures or mirrors. Curtain, net or icicle lights can also adorn your windows, from the living room to the kitchen to the front door. Or try wrapping a spiral of string lights around the curtain rail. And battery lights transform that stylish bundle of tied twigs in the corner of the hall or that large parlour palm in the living room into a luminously bejewelled objet d’art.

If you have a large glass vase, or a decorative bowl, a string of brilliant white LED lights on a bed of glass beads will transform it into a beautiful feature you’ll not want to be without when the festive season ends (use lights with white or translucent cable though – green cable is too prominent and spoils the effect). Increasingly, people are keeping some of their fairy lights on display all the year round – only the specifically festive (the icicles along the soffits or the Christmas tree illuminations) are sent into hibernation in the loft or basement until next Yuletide. Along with being decorative, fairy lights have increasingly become functional as well.

With lighting like this, you’ll forget about ceiling lights and table lamps: the soothing and classy ambience decorative http://www.ldj-lights.co.uk/ : fairy lightscan produce is always enchanting, subtle and uplifting. No longer just for the holiday season, these lights can give your home a festive feel all 365 days of the year.

Personally i had to go through three professional voice teachers, and it totally changed my musical ability. And it think that i was lucky enough to have had met my voice teacher, which recommended to me by a friend. Learn To Sing A Healthy Belt

December 31, 2009

The career of a singer greatly depends on the way he or she delivers his or her skill, and on the quality of his or her voice without neglecting vocal integrity. One example of delivering quality voice is when you are singing with power without hurting your vocal chords. A belt is considered powerful if executed with power technique and uses right tool in singing. There are singers who ask how it is produce a healthy belt.

First we have to define belt. To belt is to sing loudly and energetically, this is according to some singers. My definition of belting is formed through experience, research and professional voice organizations. For me to belt means clearly spoken lyrics and unaffected vocal production, and a natural and powerful communicative sound. If done wrong, a belt boarders on a harsh shout or just yelling and this causes vocal damage and strain to your voice.

Personally, i have developed a technique as an alternative to tradition vocal training, which is called Morganix Method, Sing Like You Speak. This technique fills the gap between contemporary vocal needs and classical training. The technique is designed to produce a clear and open communicative instrument, that is also flexible enough to sing any style and at the same time play any character without strain, and even without giving a powerful belt.

According to experts, singing is considered a right-brain only activity. And as the research improves the understanding of the acoustics and mechanics of vocal apparatus, theatre performance voice and singing is blended into one.

The left brain activity which is natural, comfortable and easy is the speech. You talk without following a technique, and you speak with pitch in a normal conversation. And sometimes you speak in rhythm, be it smooth and legato or pointed and staccato. It varies actually.

According to science, speaking with musical pitch requires a crossover in the brain in order to speak, which is the left brain, on musical pitch which is also the right brain. And that is the reason why the foundation of a healthy and powerful belt depends in speaking on pitch to combine the ease of speech with the music of singing.

To learn to sing a healthy belt you should know proper breathing technique so that you can sustain the notes. This is also to avoid straining your voice and your vocal chords. Correct posture is also very important so that you can reach the notes, specially the high ones of the songs that you will sing. Another important thing so that you will learn to sing healthy belt is to take good care of your voice. Drink a lot of water, at least 8 to 10 glasses a day to lubricate your vocal chords so that it will function better and it will not be hurt. You should also rest your voice to avoid straining it. Warm up exercise for your voice before every performance or even practice is also important to ready your voice for belting out.
